Lily Meadowsong knows the old songs of this swamp better than anyone alive. If the Mother of Graves was ever sung of, Lily will have heard it. Take her these letters and ask her what she knows. She keeps her own counsel and does not care for visitors, but she will listen to you. You have earned that much from her already.

The Mother of Graves. I haven’t heard that name spoken aloud since I was small enough to be frightened into bed by it. Before this was a swamp, it was a city, and the city buried its dead the old way, under the stones and the roots. When the waters came, the dead drowned with it. The songs say the Mother keeps them down there, waiting for her call. Morrigath is the name her priests gave her. ‘The Dark God’ is what her cultists say to outsiders, and folk who never learned the songs take her for a he. I said it that way myself, the last time you came. The swamp folk just called her the Mother, and they never sang to her. They sang against her.
