Adventurers

Adventurers can join your party or pursue their own progress while away. This guide covers meeting them, their roles, and their gear.

Meeting and inviting

Use Find in the Friends panel to add an adventurer to your friends, then invite them from the Friends tab. Adding a friend does not add them to your party.
Your party has room for up to 4 companions and adventurers besides you. Companions you already have and the members of a challenge stone party take up these places.
An adventurer who has not yet joined the world is offline and cannot be invited.

Dungeon Finder parties

The Dungeon Finder looks for adventurers who can complete your party.

The Dungeon Finder fills a tank, a healer, and 3 damage roles. It starts with your current party and looks for adventurers for the missing roles.
The Dungeon Finder accepts an adventurer from 2 levels below a dungeon's minimum level, but never below level 1, up to 4 levels above the higher of its minimum and maximum levels.

Roster

Every adventurer of the world, with their class, party role, and when they join.

An adventurer joins the world after you have played this character for the hours shown below, counted from the start for a new character.
An adventurer starts at the level shown and gains levels from jobs and fights, up to the highest level of their class.
The Dungeon Finder places each adventurer in their party role, and an adventurer without a role of their own fills a damage role. In a fight, a healer favours healing abilities and a tank favours abilities that draw enemies to them.
As they level, adventurers learn the talents of their class. They spend points in their preferred tree first and learn the abilities on their page first when the requirements allow, and they fight with the abilities they have learned.
An adventurer's race and class decide how their stats grow with their level.

Jobs and Progress

Adventurers work on their own progress while they are away.

While away, adventurers take jobs automatically. Completing a job gives that adventurer experience and gold, not your character.
A new job lasts between 180 and 360 seconds.
An adventurer's job timer pauses while that adventurer is present in the world.

Gear Upgrades

Adventurers improve their own equipment from a shared list of reward gear, and some also from a gear kit of their own.

On completing a job, an adventurer has a 40% chance to try for an equipment upgrade. A successful upgrade replaces that adventurer's own gear.
Upgrades come from the reward gear list below. An adventurer can take an item from it only after reaching the item's level. Each try starts at a random item in the list and takes the first one that suits the adventurer, so the items are not equally likely.
An item suits an adventurer when the adventurer's class can use it and it fills an empty slot or scores higher than the piece it would replace, and most armor must also be of the adventurer's preferred armor type. The score counts each point of the adventurer's favoured stat as 2 and each point of another stat as about 0.2, plus a weapon's damage. Adventurers also favour weapons of their preferred types.
An adventurer that starts above level 1 also takes suitable gear from the list when it first appears in the world.
Some adventurers also wear a gear kit of their own, shown below, except where their own gear is better.
