Corruption

Corruption makes timed dungeons harder and their gear stronger. Use a Corruption Token at a dungeon's altar to raise its corruption level and add affixes.

For the item that starts challenge stones, see Heart of Corruption.

Corruption Altars

Each timed dungeon has an Altar of Corruption that raises the dungeon's corruption level. An altar works only once. Using it without a token adds +1. A Corruption Token adds its own value and up to 3 of its affixes. A dungeon can start at up to +30.

Corruption Tokens

Every timed dungeon run ends with a reward bag that holds a Corruption Token. A token's tooltip shows how much corruption it adds, the stat bonuses that enemies get, and its affixes, which are never repeated. A new token has up to 3 affixes. Its value is separate from the corruption level of gear.

New tokens never roll 4 of these affixes.

  • Bolstering: Dying enemies empower nearby allies with stacking health and damage.
  • Bursting: Enemies explode on death, applying a stacking damage-over-time to the party.
  • Sanguine: Dying enemies leave a pool that heals enemies and damages the party.
  • Necrotic: Enemy melee hits stack a festering wound, kite to let it fade.
  • Grievous: Badly wounded party members bleed until healed back up.
  • Raging: Enemies enrage at low health, dealing heavily increased damage.
  • Spiteful (Not on new tokens): Slain enemies spawn a vengeful ghost that fixates a party member.
  • Explosive (Not on new tokens): Enemies spawn volatile orbs, destroy them before they detonate.
  • Quaking: Party members periodically emit shockwaves that damage and interrupt nearby allies, spread out.
  • Volcanic: Fire erupts under party members standing far from the fight.
  • Storming: Enemies summon damaging whirlwinds that roam the battlefield.
  • Afflicted (Not on new tokens): Afflicted spirits appear, slay them before their cast completes or the party suffers.
  • Incorporeal (Not on new tokens): Incorporeal spirits appear that resist all damage, crowd-control them before they empower your enemies.
  • Entangling: Enemies snare party members with grasping vines.
  • Skittish: Enemies swap targets erratically.
  • Teeming: Additional enemies lurk throughout the dungeon.
  • Infested: Some enemies are infested, healing and empowering their allies, kill them first.

Corrupted Enemies

Corruption makes the enemies of a timed dungeon stronger. Each corruption level adds +10% Strength, +10% Intellect, and +20% Health to enemies, and the bonuses add up. Affixes add other effects.

Timed Dungeons

Defeat every boss before the timer runs out. The reward token starts at the corruption level that the dungeon started with. Finish with time to spare and the reward token gains levels: +2 if you beat the first threshold, and +1 if you beat only the second. If time runs out, the token loses 1 level, down to a minimum of 1, and the bag holds nothing else. A finished run's bag holds up to 3 items besides the token (2 in The Underglow).

Thresholds count the time left on the timer when the last boss dies. Maximum loot is the most items a reward bag holds besides the token.

The reward bag's extra loot comes from the same tables as the bosses' own drops, so each boss page lists its chances.

Corrupted Gear

Gear from a corrupted reward bag carries the dungeon's corruption level, shown as Corruption +N on its tooltip. Each level raises the item's base stats and weapon damage by 5%, adds 5 Item Power, and adds 15% Health to items with a Health stat. Random stats and gems keep their values.
