Before Barrowdeep fell to the necromancer's plague, its keepers guarded four holy tomes, one for each order of the old faith. I studied copies of them as a novice, and I can still recite their opening prayers from memory. The dead walk those halls now, and the true words of the faith rot down there with them. I cannot abide it. Go into Barrowdeep and bring the tomes out, whatever state they are in. Each one holds a soul's worth of prayers, and every page you save is a candle lit against the dark.
On Completion
The bindings are cold as grave earth, and the pages smell of the tomb... but the words are whole, every line of them. I feared I would never read these prayers again in this life. You have done the faith a service that few would dare, and I will not forget it. Take one of these rings; I had them blessed for whoever answered my call. You have my thanks, and the Light's.
