This month I buried eleven. All of them from Ashway, the village far to the south. The same sickness took them all. Grey skin, cold sweat, dead in three days. The people there call it the grey fever. Now I know why. They ate bread made from poisoned grain. And the ones I buried do not stay buried. Healer Maren Holloway is still in Ashway, tending those who live. Go to her. Put down the fevered dead who walk there, and find out where their flour came from. Somebody sold it to them.

You came from Oakenvale? Then you’ve seen what walks in our streets now. Every one of them was somebody’s neighbour. These tags... every sack in Ashway carried the same mark. A sheaf of wheat and a P. P for Pell. Osric Pell sold us that flour cheap, all autumn long, and we thanked him for it.
