There's one among the dead in Briarstead that my scouts keep whispering about, a tall one, armored in black and dragging a rusted blade behind him. They say he was once Captain Erland Varrin, commander of Briarstead's village guard. A good man, disciplined, loyal, and stubborn as old oak. When the undead swept through, he refused to fall back. Stood his ground to protect the villagers. Now he's out there still, patrolling the ruins he died defending. There's no saving what's left of him. Find him, and give him a proper end. He deserves that much.
On Completion
Captain Erland Varrin has been laid to rest. He fought to the end, and now he can finally find peace. The ruins of Briarstead are quieter for his passing. You've honored a fallen hero, and that's worth more than gold.
